Notes:
1841 census records indicate Obadiah and Jane lived in Brown Edge village with sons John, Elijah and Alfred. Obadiah was noted as a coal man.

1851 census indicates they lived at Sandy Lane with the boys all still at home. Obadiah is noted as an Engine man while sons John and Elijah noted as coal miners.

1861 census has the family with the exception of Elijah all located at Sandy Lane with Obadiah an Engine man and sons John and Alfred, Banksmen.

St. Anne's burial records show Obadiah was buried November 6, 1868 at the age of 60. Occupation noted as Engine Tenter.

1881 census shows Jane, widowed, at home age 72 with son John still living with her, John was noted as a Labourer.

The 1891 census indicates John may have taken a wife by the name of Sarah and was living at the family home in Brown Edge. By 1901 John was again alone, passing away in 1914. The book "A Brown Edge Village" notes that John may have been known around the village as "JohnyOby", possibly after his father, Obadiah. He was buried with his Mom and Dad.

1911 census indicates John is living with wife Sarah at St. Ann's Vale.
