On the 1851 census, Simon is not living at home with parents. There is a Simon Sherratt, age 16 living at Ridgeway Hall, servant to John and Hannah Jolly and family which is likely our Simon. On the 1861 census, Simon and Sarah are living at 66 Sandy Lane. Simon is 28 and a collier. Sarah, 23, a dressmaker. In 1881 Simon and Sarah are living in Baddeley Edge. Simon 47 is a coal miner. Children at home include Thomas B. 14, also a coal miner, Mary A., 10, John H, 9, Hannah E. 6 and Arthur 4. 1901 census Sarah was now a widow living with son Arthur (23) in Baddeley Edge.
